I just wanted to give you all a quick update. As you know, the kids and I have joined Jason in Fort McMurray. We've rented out our house in Abbotsford and purchased a town house in Fort McMurray.
Jason and a friend of ours, Aaron, drove the moving truck with all of our (well, most of our) things up here last weekend and flew back to Abbotsford on Monday. The original plan was for Jason, I and the kids to get up early on Tuesday and drive as far as Jasper. However, there was more left to do than I had thought there would be so we ended up not leaving Abbotsford until late afternoon.
We drove as far as Kamloops, then to Jasper on Wednesday, and to Edmonton on Thursday where we spent a fun night in one of the Fantasyland Hotel's truck themed rooms. We met up with my dad for an visit, saw the sea lion show, and took the kids to Galaxyland! Since the kids and I were all fighting colds, I opted to not visit the waterpark this time...... I'm sure there'll be another opportunity soon :)
I promised London that we would find the Disney store before we left and so did that yesterday morning. Jason lucked out as well, because it turns out that the Apple store is located next to the Disney store and he (we) got a new iPad!
The drive from Edmonton to Fort McMurray was loooooonnnnng. Davis slept for a bit, but not long enough. Then I ended up getting carsick and could not keep turning around to entertain him, OR ride in the back seat either. So in the end, he cried for the last hour and a half of our trip and I held it together long enough to walk in the front door, but was SO SICK I wanted to just die. Today I am okay with still being alive - I'm doing better as the day goes on. (The good news is that my sickness counteracted all of the timbits and poptarts I pounded back this past week (using the "I'm moving, so I can't possibly eat healthy" excuse :) I don't know that I'd say it was worth it - but I'm choosing to find the silver lining in the situation.....
I've got the kitchen 99% put together. I'm sure that I'll have to move some things around - but for now, it's functioning. I think that we're going to go out in a bit and pick up some shelving and other things that we need. I'm hoping to get the living room put together and free of boxes as well as the kid's rooms unpacked as well before the day is done. That'll just leave our bedroom, which I can do after the kids are in bed tonight.
I had thought that I would unpack my craft room in our basement, which is unfinished. But as I looked at it today - I just don't know. I would really like to finish it (the basement) before we start using it - I guess we'll have to figure out how much it's going to cost and if we can afford it. With Jason being in school for the next couple of months, things will be a little tighter.
As soon as I possibly can, I will post some new pictures of the kids and of our new place as well.
